Kitchen Remodel

After doing some significant DIY remodeling in our previous home, we knew we could get more house if we could find one that needed updating. The house we purchased fit the bill exactly. We'd done a full kitchen remodel before. This one would just be twice as big. The picture below shows the old kitchen. The new kitchen will be twice as big.

Looking into the kitchen, about 10 x 13 ft.

Looking towards the dining area from the kitchen.

Some issues: we didn't know whether the brick wall was a veneer or full brick, we wanted to upgrade all the appliances (and therefore require more circuits), and there was a significant, visual drop off in the level of the floor right at the entrance to the kitchen.

We were very happy with the kitchen designer we had used in the previous remodel (John V. at Home Depot in Campbell, CA), and knew we wouldn't have to spend months finding one again. We wanted to double the size of the kitchen by using what was a breakfast nook. The appliance list grew when we found that two sinks were easy to fit into the space, each with their own window. So now it was two dishwashers, double oven, 6 burner stovetop, trash compactor, and a warming oven. Down to City Hall for permits, and finding an electrician to change out the electrical service so we'd have room for all the new circuit breakers we'd need. The only other jobs we didn't do ourselves wer to plumb the new stove for gas,  plumbing for the new sink location, and installation of the granite countertop.

On to demolition!
